Paul Bissonnette, who earned the nickname “Biz Nasty” during his NHL career, fought off six men after trying to break up an altercation at a Scottsdale restaurant.
The incident at Houston’s restaurant escalated significantly when Bissonnette stepped in and tried to help management calm the six men who were allegedly irate over not being served.
The former Phoenix Coyote left winger described how he interjected himself into the situation.
“I said ‘listen guy, if you keep harassing and assaulting the staff, we’re going to go outside and have some problems,'” he relayed during a “Spittin Chiclets” podcast. “The minute that left my mouth, the guys starts swinging, and the next thing you know, four guys start swinging at me.”
“The situation escalated to the men assaulting Paul Bissonnette both inside and outside of the restaurant,” Scottsdale Police Sgt. Allison Sempsis said, according to Fox 10.
Paul Bissonnette Takes On Six Dudes
Paul Bissonnette also pointed out that he took some pretty good shots as fists and feet were flying during the melee.
“I ate three kicks: one in the neck two in the head. Was able to get up, and at this point now, I have no shoes on. I got my pants, no shirt,” he explained. “I’m finally able to run into CVS, and they didn’t come into CVS.”
“Thankfully, the cops were called right away.”
The six men involved in the assault were all arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct. One of the assailants had a felony forgery charge tacked on.
And while Bissonnette certainly took his lumps, the mugshots for the six men arrested clearly show he got some licks in as well. Look at these hapless goons.

Was There Another Guy?
While the police report and the arrests state that six men were involved in the assault on Paul Bissonnette, the former NHL player says there were actually seven involved.
“Just bad dudes. Way too drunk and I don’t know what else they had in their system. I’m very, very angry at these guys and kind of want their names out there and kind of want them to pay the piper,” he said on the podcast.

“Unacceptable behavior at a family restaurant just because they couldn’t grab another cocktail and didn’t want to hear ‘no’ for an answer. At that point, with the guy all over the manager, I just figured I had to go over,” said Bissonnette.
“Took some, gave more.”
The mugshots seem to indicate as much.
