Kate Middleton made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon on Sunday as she continues to battle cancer. While at the tennis tournament, Kate was given a standing ovation by her adoring supporters.

Kate Attends Wimbledon

Kate, 42, attended Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis Club with her daughter Princess Charlotte, 9, and her sister Pippa, 40. As they took their seats, the crowd of tennis fans erupted in applause for Kate.

Lip reader Jeremy Freeman has since spoken out to reveal what Kate was saying during this moment. He told The Sun that Kate asked Charlotte to “come over here” as they got to their seats. After thanking the woman who had led them to their seats, Kate waved to the crowd as they applauded her.

Kate said “hi” to her adoring fans before telling the woman that the crowd was “so sweet.”

After Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets to win the championship, Kate presented the trophy to the defending champion and the runner-up. Before handing them their respective trophies, Kate shook each player’s hands.

Kate took to social media afterwards to congratulate Alcaraz on his “remarkable victory.”

Kate’s First Public Appearance In Weeks

Other attendees in the royal box at Wimbledon on Sunday included the Hollywood star Tom Cruise, who is a friend of the royal family, and the actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who attended Eton with Prince William. The former tennis star Andre Agassi was in the royal box as well, as was the London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

This marked Kate’s first public appearance in nearly one month. She had not been seen since the Trooping the Colour. There, she joined her husband William and the rest of the royal family for King Charles’ birthday celebrations on the Buckingham Palace balcony

Kate has enjoyed attending Wimbledon many times over the years. Last week, royal expert Emily Andrews said that Kate “would love” to go to Wimbledon this year if her health allows her to.

“Her treatment is ongoing, and will be for the next few months, but I understand she would like to visit the Wimbledon tennis tournament — she is a patron — if she feels up to it,” Andrews said.

Kate’s Cancer Battle

This sadly comes as Kate’s cancer battle continues. She had revealed to the world back in March that she had been diagnosed with cancer after undergoing abdominal surgery back in January. After confirming that she was undergoing chemotherapy treatments, Kate asked the world for “time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment.”

Last month, Kate admitted that “there are good days and bad days.” Despite this, she expressed her hopes to join “a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.”

This is clearly an extremely difficult time for Kate and her entire family. We’re glad that Kate appears to have had fun at Wimbledon, and we pray for her good health moving forward!
