For somebody ‘who only brings three-pointers to the table,’ Caitlin Clark sure is setting a lot of records these days. And they don’t only involve shots from behind the arc.
On Friday, Clark and the Indiana Fever won their fourth game in a row against the Atlanta Dream. In the process, the rookie guard contributed 16 points and 7 assists.
Doing so made her the fastest rookie in WNBA history to record at least 250 points and 100 assists.
It’s hard to believe that there was a narrative at one point during the season that Clark’s game didn’t translate well to the WNBA.
Legendary UConn women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma just a couple of weeks ago said this: “She’s just not built for the physicality of this league, and she’s not quick enough to get away from the physicality.”
Not built for the league … fastest to 250 points and 100 assists.

Caitlin Clark Setting More Records
On Sunday, Indiana faced Clark’s rival Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky for the third time this season. Unfortunately for the Fever, they blew a 15-point lead and lost by one point, their first loss against the Sky.
But, a silver lining for their rookie guard. Clark finished the game with 17 points, 13 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals.
Those 13 assists broke the Indiana Fever‘s single-game franchise assists record. But that entire stat line also set new marks.
Clark shot 5 for 9 from three-point range, meaning she is now the first rookie in league history to score 15 or more points, dish out 10 or more assists, and connect on five or more 3-pointers in a WNBA game.
But wait, there’s more!
Caitlin Clark, by scoring 7 points and grabbing 2 rebounds in her next game would surpass Shannon Johnson’s pace for the fastest in league history to 300 points, 100 rebounds, and 100 assists.
Johnson did it in 22 games. Clark will play her 19th game on Thursday against the Seattle Storm.
All She Does Is Hit Threes
Almost as silly as Auriemma’s comment above was one from Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter who, in trying to defend herself from the hip-check heard around the world, said Clark’s game is limited.
“& that’s that on that cause beside three point shooting what does she bring to the table man,” Carter wrote.
Caitlin Clark brings records. Just about every game she plays.
Carter’s comment is destined to go down with that of Buddy Ryan who once famously said of Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter (no relation) that “all he does is catch touchdowns.”
