Caitlin Clark is arguably the most famous player in the WNBA right now. She might be the most famous player in basketball, period.

That’s why it’s easy to forget that she’s more than just a one-woman-show. Indeed, she’s also an amazing teammate.

Clark Has Some Fun With Her Teammates

Clark showed that once again this week, when she poked fun at her fellow Indiana Fever player Aliyah Boston after she lost to their teammate Lexie Hull in the Unrivaled League final.

Unrivaled is an off-season 3-on-3 league meant to allow players to stay in the US rather than playing overseas.

On Monday night, Rose BC won the first Unrivaled season over the Vinyl by a score of 62-54. Though they’re both on the Indiana Fever, Hull and Boston were on opposing teams in the championship. Hull was on the Rose, while Boston was on the Vinyl.

The Fever took to social media to advertise the face-off between the two teams. Clark was quick to comment on this writing, “One of them bouta come back angry and one happy uh oh.”

After the game, Clark commented again.

“@aliyah.boston you didn’t deserve this. I’m sorry,” Clark wrote.

Boston responded to this by referencing the $50,000 bonus that Hull won thanks to the Rose’s victory.

“@caitlinclark22 thanks pookie. I really needed this pick me up message from you,” Boston stated.

Boston and Clark became a powerful duo in the latter half of the previous WNBA season.

Clark Turned Down $1 Million Offer To Play In Unrivaled

“Unrivaled paid each of its 36 players a guaranteed $250,000 salary for the eight-week season, along with $50,000 for each member of the winning team,” The Mirror reported.

“Clark was even reportedly offered more money to take part, but the All-Star turned down the opportunity as she sought to enjoy some time off,” the publication added.

Clark reportedly turned down a whopping $1 million when she declined to take part in Unrivaled. That just goes to show how important rest is to her after the whirlwind twelve months that she’s had. The year saw Clark break the all-time NCAA scoring record at Iowa before becoming a star in the WNBA. Clark even was named as the WNBA Rookie of the Year!

‘Taylor Swift 2.0’

Last month, the Fever coach Stephanie White spoke out to praise Clark, describing her as “Taylor Swift 2.0.” She believes that like Swift, Clark hasn’t let her fame and success go to her head.

“I think first and foremost, she does an outstanding job of managing it all. Like, she’s incredibly humble,” White told The Athletic. “She understands the big picture. So she views it understanding her celebrity, No. 1. But No. 2, she’s a Midwest kid, a Midwest person and she is who she is. She tries to live her life in an authentic way. But she’s very much Taylor Swift 2.0.”

“So I think from my perspective, and from our staff and franchise, it’s how do we help her navigate all of this? How do we help her protect her peace? Because it can be a lot,” the Fever coach continued. “How can we be a resource for her? It’s a different level now with social media and fan engagement. We want to be a resource and help protect her.”

Clark’s latest comments about her teammates only serve to back up White’s claims about her. In the end, the Fever is lucky to have someone like Clark on their team!
