Sophie Cunningham, the newly acquired shooting guard for the Indiana Fever, is excited about teaming up with Caitlin Clark.
Especially the New and Improved Buff Caitlin Clark.
Speaking to reporters at her official introduction to the team on Tuesday, Cunningham praised Clark, saying, “She has changed our game in the best possible way in every way.”
Sophie also made it quite clear that she is ready to support her teammate and handle any intimidation tactics opponents might use against the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year.
“Just to be alongside of her and maybe relieve the pressure, being able to shoot and spread the court for her to go do her thing,” she said. “I want her to go do her thing, and anything she needs from me, I’m gonna be here.”
“Just the competitor that I am, I’m fierce, I’m sassy,” Cunningham continued. “I stick up for my teammates. I stick up for myself. Sometimes, I think that’s okay to be feisty and be yourself.”
No doubt that is music to Caitlin Clark’s ears after last season’s brutal physicality.
Sophie Cunningham Ready To Take On Opponents Trying To Intimidate Caitlin Clark
That’s a slightly longer way to say to those WNBA players who tried intimidating Caitlin Clark last season with physical play to basically ‘bring it.’
Clark received a fair share of flagrant fouls last season. But her opponents may want to think twice about tangling with her if Sophie Cunningham is on the roster. She just might drop them.
Of course, if that doesn’t work, Clark has been hitting the weights.
Pictures of Clark looking jacked are popping up everywhere on social media. Fans are losing it over her offseason transformation.
The Fever dream appears to have been hitting the weights hard, as she showed off some serious muscle while cheering courtside at Iowa’s Big Ten Tournament game on Friday.
Jealous opponents last season took every opportunity they could to bump Clark all over the court. Now, she’s bulked up and added an enforcer to the roster.
Try doing that petty stuff next season, ladies.

Happy To Have Sophie
Caitlin Clark isn’t the only one thrilled to have the stunning Sophie Cunningham aboard next season.
“Sophie is a player that we have targeted for a while, and one that we believe is a perfect fit for the style we want to play,” Fever general manager Amber Cox said following the trade.
“She is a fierce competitor, works incredibly hard on both ends of the floor, and is one of the best shooters in our league. We are excited to add her to our squad.”
That makes two fierce competitors heading into next season.
Sophie was drafted 13th overall by the Phoenix Mercury in the 2019 WNBA Draft. She played six seasons with the Mercury prior to the Indiana trade, establishing herself as a key offensive contributor.
