FS1 host Colin Cowherd believes that while the WNBA is capitalizing on the Caitlin Clark craze with the recent announcement of their 2025 media broadcast schedule, they could have gone a step further.

As reported at Bounding Into Sports, the Indiana Fever is set to dominate national airwaves like never before this coming season.

Cowherd, though, went so far as to suggest the league could have offered two separate packages – one featuring the bulk of the WNBA, the other featuring games exclusive in which Clark is playing.

“If I was the WNBA, I would have considered a separate television package to a network on just Caitlin Clark games,” he said.

“I would’ve had two packages. The WNBA package, and then a separate, let’s say 15 to 18 game Caitlin Clark package for, you know, it could be HBO it could be Fox it could be anybody,” added Cowherd. “I would’ve sold a separate Caitlin Clark package.”

An All-Caitlin Clark Package

The WNBA is gearing up for a blockbuster 2025 season, and it’s clear that Caitlin Clark is the driving force behind the league’s latest surge in popularity.

With the recent announcement of the 2025 broadcast schedule, the Indiana Fever and their once-in-a-generation talent will see an unprecedented 41 of their 44 regular-season games aired on national television or streaming platforms.

It’s clear The W wants to capitalize on the “Caitlin Clark craze.”

And why not? Her rookie season smashed viewership records and propelled the Fever to their first playoff appearance in years.

Now, networks like ABC, ESPN, and ION are jumping on the bandwagon, with ten Fever games slated for major network broadcasts.

Could they have gone bigger and bolder as Cowherd suggests?

Is It Realistic?

It’s undeniable that Caitlin Clark is a ratings magnet—games featuring her and the Indiana Fever pull in viewership numbers that dwarf other WNBA matchups, making her the league’s golden ticket.

Naturally, any network would salivate over an exclusive package of just the WNBA’s top-tier games

However, cherry-picking only the premier inventory risks torpedoing the value of the league’s broader offerings, leaving the rest of the games—and teams—scrambling for scraps.

And, can you imagine the jealousy surrounding the rest of the league if the Clark network rating absolutely trounced the other WNBA games? People would hardly watch the other networks.

The league’s brightest star would shine even brighter while the rest of the WNBA would have to lurk in the shadows.
